How To Prevent Drunk Driving

Drinking and driving is becoming a bigger issue every year. Not only is drinking and driving very dangerous to the driver, but it is dangerous for everyone else on the road as well. There are ways to prevent drinking and driving. First, if you must drink, always have a designated driver. The designated driver should not have consumed any alcohol so that the people who have will not harm themselves or anyone else and will make it home safely.

Do not let your friends drive drunk. If you see your friend (or someone else who is intoxicated) getting behind the wheel, take the keys from them and get them another ride home such as calling them a cab or having someone else drive them home who has not been drinking. It doesn’t matter how short the distance or how many drinks you have had; drinking and driving is extremely dangerous and should be taken seriously.

Another way to prevent drunk driving is to get involved community organizations that are against drunk driving. If you can’t get involved in these organizations, give them donations and provide other kinds of support.

Contact lawmakers and talk to them about making stricter laws against drinking and driving. Get as many people involved as you can. Do not serve alcohol at parties or any other event with anyone under the age of 21 present. Also make sure there is no alcohol being served at any of your children’s parties. Do not let anyone drink and drive no matter what the circumstance; do everything you can to prevent it.
